  • Overview

    The Supply Chain Director is responsible for all Sedalia plant scheduling, capacity planning and raw materials management in Sedalia, Missouri.  The position will implement a monthly production plan, fully evaluating potential constraints including plant labor, machine capacity and efficiency, and material availability in conjunction with the demand forecasts.  Coordination and oversight over the raw materials planning, procuring and managing within the plant is critical in execution of the production plan.  The position also serves an integral role in WireCo’s Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning Process (SIOP).  As plant liaison to the Commercial departments (Customer Care, Distribution and Sales), the Supply Chain Director will develop a process to communicate and manage production lead times and provide customer order information when required.  The Supply Chain Director will report to the Senior Vice President of US Manufacturing.  Direct reports include Sedalia Plant Schedulers, Raw Materials Planners, Inventory Control, and the Materials Management organization.  In addition, the position will have dotted line responsibility for Scheduling and Material Planning in WireCo’s Chillicothe, Missouri Plant.

    Responsibilities

    1. Develop a sustainable plant schedule and production plan that is comprehensive, transparent and efficient
    2. Monitors scheduling systems to ensure delivery performance on promise and required dates for customer orders
    3. Develop and execute the material management action plans required to achieve the department goals related to inventory turns, customer service levels and operating profit, cost reduction, & on time deliveries.
    4. Participate & supervise inventory control, cycle counting & physical inventory process
    5. Develop short and long-term units and dollar inventory goals for raw and WIP
    6. Active participant in the WireCo Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process, providing guidance on supply and demand, order management, on-time delivery performance, and forecast execution.
    7. Develop root cause/counter measures for customer service levels (backorders)
    8. Lead efforts in plant capacity planning and analytics, studying all production inputs, including labor and labor efficiency, machine throughput and OEE, planned maintenance and downtime, and raw materials planning
    9. Have strong knowledge of planning/pull systems and MRP concepts such as time fences, demand input, consumption rules and projected balance calculations.

    Required Qualifications

    1. Four year technical or business degree or equivalent (EX: military, exceptional documented experience)
    2. Minimum of ten (10) years experience specializing in Plant Planning & Scheduling, Material Management or Supply Chain Management
    3. Minimum of five (5) years experience in a supervisory position related to materials planning, production control, purchasing, forecasting and/or master scheduling within a high mix manufacturing environment.
    4. Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts
    5. Mechanical and analytical solution oriented with a focus on processes, standards and metrics
    6. Fluent in written and spoken English
    7. Strong ERP/MRP systems knowledge; prior experience with JD Edwards preferred
    8. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work in a fast paced environment
    9. APICS certification preferred but not required
