  • Overview

    The Wire Planner position is responsible for Sedalia Plant raw material ordering and inventory management with respect to the rolling production plan.  The position will coordinate raw material planning / forecasting, procurement and data management across external supply and with both WireCo North American wire mills.   The Wire Planner will serve as a key liaison between Chillicothe Wire Mill Scheduling and Logistics and Sedalia Rope Mill Scheduling and Supply Chain to ensure proper coordination of the production plan and timely lead time management of raw materials required.   The position will directly report to the Supply Chain Director, based in Sedalia, MO or Chillicothe, MO.   This position requires a person with strong organizational and problem solving skills, excellent communications, and can handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.

    Responsibilities

    1. Determine raw material wire requirements to meet plant operating schedules, including the forecasting of future raw material usages. Must align with Sedalia Rope plant work schedules to address product and machine mix demand changes, as well as introduction of new material changes in production.
    2. Responsible for raw material inventory management, which includes monitoring, analyzing and optimizing inventory with compliance to key working capital metrics/targets. Coordination of key technical material substitution with technical, engineering and quality resources is vital in managing inventory.
    3. Review and incorporate supply and demand forecasts into raw material demand planning
    4. Accountable for accurately communicating and maintaining wire inventory and purchasing forecasts in Missouri facilities (Chillicothe and Sedalia)
    5. Support and balance buy vs. make strategy with internal and external suppliers
    6. Serve as a liaison to Chillicothe Planning & Scheduling and Supply Chain and Sedalia Scheduling and Materials Management teams
    7. Supports continuous improvement of material planning and inventory control processes
    8. Provide project based support when necessary across Plant Scheduling, Materials Management, Procurement and Inventory Control.

    Required Qualifications

    1. Four year technical or business degree or equivalent (EX: military, exceptional documented experience)
    2. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
    3. Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.
    4. Mechanical and analytical solution oriented with a focus on processes, standards and metrics
    5. JDEdwards knowledge preferred but not required
    6. Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally (limited requirements)
    7. Fluent in written and spoken English
    8. Minimum 8 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment
