  • Overview

    The Distribution Center Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the distribution center to include directing employees, handling customer orders, making shipments, maintaining center inventory and operating within controllable cost per ton budgets.


    1. Order Management.  Communicates and cooperates with customers, District Sales Manager(s), other Distribution Center Managers, Corporate Customer Service, Product Management, and Executive management.
    2. Expense Management.  Provides an efficient operation of the distribution center and good service to the customers and other districts. The extent to which controllable expenses remain within the prescribed limits of budget.
    3. Inventory Management.  By working closely with the District Sales Manager(s), maintains specific inventory requirements, and to the extent of which the Product Managers are informed of inventory requirements. Control of scrap and remnant inventory keeping product loss within corporate standards.
    4. Personnel Management.  The extent to which supervision, selection and utilization, and training of distribution center personnel results in the smooth operation of the distribution center.  Utilizes, trains, develops, evaluates, and motivates personnel supervised in an effective manner.
    5. Building and Equipment Management.  The extent to which there is proper housekeeping and maintenance of building and grounds. The extent to which machinery and equipment are properly maintained.
    6. Safety Management.  The criteria to which accidents are prevented and governmental regulatory compliance is assured. Maintains the conditions of the distribution center to ensure a safe environment.  Promotes safety by conducting regularly scheduled safety training meetings.
    7. Quality Control Management.  Actively supports the Quality Improvement Process through visible proactive and positive actions.
    8. Report Management. Utilizes and monitors reporting tools to operate within corporate standards for on time delivery, response time, and expense management.

    Required Qualifications

    Requires high school diploma or GED and relevant experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Distribution and/or warehouse management experience.
