  • Overview

    The Production Supervisor of Fabricated Products is responsible and accountable for the utilization of plant equipment and personnel to meet the production requirements on time and to the acceptable quality/cost levels.



    Supervises Fabricated Products production employees

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Directs and Supervises employees so production requirements are met.
    • Assures the operating condition of the plant and machinery are in compliance with OSHA requirements and good safety and housekeeping practices are maintained.
    • Inspects raw materials to meet ISO requirements. Maintains bin location and lot control.
    • Assures that finished products meet quality standards and customer specifications. Performs final quality inspections.
    • Data entry: records productivity, scheduling, employee records, training, equipment PM’s, testing methods, performs calibrations, work instructions, etc.
    • Inventories and requests shop supplies and tools as needed.
    • Utilizes trains, develops, evaluates, and motivates personnel supervised in an effective manner.
    • Effectively communicates and implements the affirmative action goals of the company and supports the individual goals of the department manager.
    • Must constantly demonstrate an ability to work independently and competently.
    • Exercise leadership and provide a safe work example for subordinate personnel.
    • Responsible for his personal safety and the safety of subordinates and fellow employee.
    • Ensure participation in all safety drills and exercises, attend safety meetings, ensure that safety equipment is in place and personnel are using the correct PPE.
    • Explain the visible and hidden hazards involved with anticipated work.
    • Ensure that instructions are fully comprehended by all personnel involved.

    Required Qualifications

    1. High School Diploma or GED
    2. Minimum 2 years supervisory experience with an Associates Degree from an accredited Technical School or, if degree, a minimum 5 years supervisory experience in a related field is required.
    3. Ability to communicate to other technical people verbally and in writing.
    4. Must have basic mathematical skills.
    5. Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Minimum 2 years of related experience with technical skills such as: computers, calibration, hydraulics, pneumatics and comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment.
    • Ability to extract read and understand basic assembly drawings.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Material and Equipment Directly Used

    • Schedules, forms, phones, VFH radios, computer, tape measures, calipers, micrometers, PPE, fork trucks, pallet jacks, company truck

    Work Environment/Physical Requirements

    • Exerting up to 70 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.
    • Ascending or descending stairs, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility expected
    • Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing and pulling are required occasionally.
    • Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
    • Subject to environmental conditions. Subject to moderate heat which may include temperatures above 100˚ for periods of more than an hour.
    • Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as; analyzing data and figures; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devises; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
    • Must be able to work a rotating shift including some weekend work.
